The enduring success of Incognito is one of the great stories of UK music during the last four decades. Look at the recent history of soulful UK artists and you will find any number of short-lived acts that have achieved pop success. Narrow it down to those that have created a uniquely British sound and have endured as a global phenomenon on their own terms, and the list becomes short. Dues, then, to Jean-Paul 'Bluey' Maunick and Incognito, formed in 1979 and celebrating almost 44 years of positive vibes and undiluted Jazz-Funk

From their debut album emerged their first smash single – “Native New Yorker”, an international hit late in 1977. Additionally, Lillian’s eldest son, Steven Collazo had become part of Odyssey behind the scenes - recording as a background vocalist, journeyman session musician and musical director for their live performances and tours. A couple of years later, the group cut their “Hang Together” album. It contained Use It Up And Wear It Out, while the flipside, “DonÂ’t Tell Me, Tell Her” received major airplay on US Black Radio. In the UK, Use It Up shot to the top ten, followed by “If You’re Looking For A Way Out”, “Inside Out”, and the Lamont Dozier classic “Going Back To My Roots”, among others.
Performing around the UK, Europe and the Middle East through the 80s and into the 90s, the journey continued. In 1994, Steven moved up to co-front the group and produce new versions of the Odyssey classics while appearing with Lillian on television, touring the arenas, top hotels, clubs, major holiday resorts and festivals throughout the UK and Europe.

British ska band the Dualers started out as buskers. Gradually building a huge fan base, they self-released multiple albums, played to massive crowds, and scored two U.K. Top 30 hit singles, all without any label backing.
in 1999. Starting out as a duo before expanding to a regularly rotating nine-piece lineup, they performed on the streets for several years and toured heavily, eventually building enough of a fan base that their debut single, "Kiss on the Lips," released in 2004, went to number 21 on the U.K. chart. A second single, "Truly Madly Deeply," was released the following year and went to number 23; it was later used on the soundtrack of the romantic adventure film Fool's Gold, starring Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson. The Dualers self-released more than 15 albums, toured the U.K. in support of the Blockheads and Madness, and played a record-breaking sold-out 11-night residency at London's IndigO2. Si Cranstoun left the band in 2010 to focus on a solo career, eventually signing a million-pound record deal with Warner Bros. while Tyber continued with the Dualers as its sole frontman. The band's 2019 album, Palm Trees and 80 Degrees, went to number 11 on the U.K. album charts.

This multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and producer moved to Britain in 1962. After running a reggae sound system he joined Hott Wax, (who evolved into Brit Funk pioneers Hi-Tension after he left) and in the late 70s was a mainstay of hit group Kandidate. He set up a studio in his north London house and initially recorded with the group Proton on Champagne. Fearon’s first recording as Galaxy (with assistance from singers Julie and Dorothy) was ‘Head Over Heels’ on Ensign in 1982, which became a club hit. The first success came with the Top 5 hit ‘Dancing Tight’ in 1983 and over the next 15 months they chalked up a further four UK Top 40 singles including Top 10s ‘What Do I Do’ and ‘Everybody’s Laughing’. Their radio-friendly pop/soul debut album Phil Fearon & Galaxy also made the Top 10 in 1984. After a quiet period Fearon returned to the Top 10 for the last time with a revival of Tony Etoria’s ‘I Can Prove It’ in 1986 (also a small US R&B hit). He continued to run a production company from his home making commercial dance records.

When the World’s first international Reggae superstar, Desmond Dekker, passed away on 25 May 2006, his loss was felt most greatly among his fans, family and colleagues. Of these, few were more deeply affected than his long-time friend, singing companion and business partner, Delroy Williams.
Delroy had first bonded with Desmond back in the sixties, with the pair quickly forming a close, brotherly bond that soon led to them collaborating musically, performing at venues around the globe and recording new material for the then revitalized Trojan Records.
Together, the pair put together a new Aces band, comprising a nucleus of Brian Campbell and Aubrey Mulrain (keyboards), Gordon Mulrain (bass), Ryan Simmons (drums)and Paul Abraham (guitar), who over the next two decades provided the backbone of Desmond’s live and recorded work. But it all came to an abrupt end with Desmond’s tragic passing and despite numerous requests to take the Aces band back on the road, Delroy repeatedly refused, knowing nobody could ever possibly replace his dear ‘brother’. Now, some seven years on, Delroy has finally decided to bow to the demands of Desmond’s countless fans, after being approached by their mutual friend, the multi-talented Winston Francis.

Designated by many as the father of British neo-soul (though his impact extends to U.S. shores as well), singer/songwriter/producer Omar began as one of the U.K.'s most promising R&B hopefuls with his early-'90s international hit "There's Nothing Like This." Unintentionally avoiding pop stardom, he chose never to compromise his artistic credibility, and because of that, people like India.Arie, Erykah Badu, Angie Stone, Gilles Peterson, and his biggest idol, Stevie Wonder, are all personal fans (with the prior three naming him an influence)
